Workers deserve more credit for nation's development, says Kwara Speaker

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has said that Nigerian workers' contribution to the development of the country could not be over-emphasised, stressing that they deserve the very best from their various employees.

This, according to Ahmad would further encourage them in discharging their duties effectively and enhance their productivity.

In a statement issued by the speaker's Media Aide, Shuaib Abdulkadir to commemorate the 2016 International Workers' Day, he commended the workers for selfless services rendered over the years inspite several challenges being encountered.

The Speaker however called on government and private organisations to always make workers welfare their priority, noting that such gesture would further encourage them to work towards the country's development.

He also challenged the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to use the occasion to harmonise all factions within the union in order to forge ahead as one indivisible family.

Ahmad also enjoined the labour unions to cooperate and support President Muhammadu Buhari's administration in its desire to make lives more meaningful to every Nigerians.

Similarly, the Speaker advised the union to always embrace dialogue on issues, especially as it affect their members rather than resorting to industrial action which would further affect the economy.
