LG primaries: Speaker commends Saraki, APC hierarchy on 50% women, youth slots

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State,for ensuring that 50% of the Chairmanship candidates in the November Local Government Council elections in the State are women and Youth.

The Speaker made the commendation in Ilorin, while reacting to the outcome of the Weekend's peaceful conduct of the Primary election of the Party in the State .

Dr Ahmad, in a Statement personally signed by him, noted with delight that women and the youth emerged as the Party's flag bearers in half of the local government areas of the State.


He further pointed out that, the increased number of women and youth as candidates, is a clear indication of the strong belif of the leadership of the Party in the State in the ability of women and youth to lead the Country out of its current travails.

Dr Ahmad also eulogised the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed and the hierarchy of the APC, for sustaining steady rise of women and Youth in Kwara politics. He relished with joy in not only the high number of Women as members at the Kwara State House of Assembly, but also the sterling performance of those women who occupy leadership positions at the Assembly.

The Speaker then enjoined other States of the federation, to emulate Kwara example, of peaceful method of picking candidates for elections, to further strengthen the nation's hard won democracy.
