Sokoto State Government has commended the Kwara State House of Assembly for its efforts in making relevant laws that has continued to enhance and improve the state educational sector.
The Sokoto State Team led by the Commissioner for Education, Basic and Secondary, Dr. Mohammed Jabi Kilgore made the commendation in his remarks during their visit to the House of Assembly on Tuesday.
Kilgore emphasised that the team is currently in Kwara to understudy the implementation of the successful School Based Management Committees (SBMC) and how it has faired in the state.
He explained that the visit was necessitated by much information the Sokoto State Government received about the system and was willing to replicate such model so as to improve the educational sector in the state.
The commissioner said through their findings the team has realised that Kwara is the most successful State in the implementation of the SBMC, adding that the programme has ensured greater community participation in the administration of basic education in the State.
Kilgore added that the visit has afforded them opportunity to get first hand information from a school level SBMC on success, challenges as we as lessons learnt.
Responding, the House Committee Chairman on Education and Human Capital Development, Hon. Abdulrahman Jimoh Akani who expressed the state government delight noted that it had over the years has positive impact in the state basic education development.
SBMC comprises major stakeholders including teachers, parents, old students’ associations and community leaders, who are saddled with the responsibility of ensuring effective management of primary and junior secondary schools.
