Kwara Assembly Calls For Prompt Release Of N450m For Accreditation Of Courses in State Owned Tertiary Institutions.
The Kwara State House of Assembly has mandated its Committee on Education and Human Capital Development to ensure that the N450m allocated for accreditation and reaccreditation of courses in the state owned tertiary institutions, in the 2018 budget, is released latest next week to the affected tertiary institutions.
The House gave the directive in Ilorin, after the briefing of the Chairman of the House Committee on Education and Human and Capital Development Hon Jimoh Akanni Abdul Rahman,on the state government's compliance on the resolutions of the House, in respect of accreditation and reaccreditation of some courses in the state owned tertiary institutions.
The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, while reading the resolutions of the legislature, said the urgent release of the fund became expedient, to enable the affected tertiary institutions prepare for accreditation exercise.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development, Hon Jimoh Akanni Abdul Rahman had disclosed that the State Governor Alhaji Abdul Fatah Ahmed last Friday approved N33m for the State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies to enable it meet accreditation requirements slated for next month, pointing out that screening of estimates submitted by the authorities of the affected institutions would be concluded next week.
The House finally resolved, that the committee chairman further briefed the House on latest development next week Tuesday.
