The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. ?Dr. Ali Ahmad has said that the 8th Assembly would do everything possible to rid the state of illegal motor parks and garages.
He made the pledge in his remarks while addressing members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) led by its National President, Alhaji Najim Yasin on a courtesy visit to his office recently.
To achieve this, Ahmad explained that the legislature would soon find means to ?amend the existing State Laws prohibiting illegal motor parks and garages.
This, Ahmad noted became imperative particularly as the President of the union is a Kwaran, adding that importantly such step would serve as model for other states of the federation to emulate.
The Speaker who lauded the union described it as one of the most organised, recognised and united associations in the country.
He acknowledged Yasin's efforts ?in sanitising the union and rid it off crisis, stressing that since his emergence at the helm of NURTW affairs, peace has continued to reign in the association because of his ingenuity and as a grassroots person.
?Ahmad stated that the President has always made Kwara proud and has been a source of inspiration for NURTW members as well other Kwarans to emulate.
Earlier, the union's President, Alhaji Najim Yasin had appealed to the legislature to assist look into the issue of illegal motor parks, which he said has ?continued to spring up in the nooks and crannies of the state.
He enjoined the legislature to enact laws that would ban illegal motor parks and garages and as well impose stiff penalties on those found guilty.
Yasin thanked both Kwara State Government and State House of Assembly ?for their unalloyed support and cooperation over the years.
