Kwara Assembly passes two bills into law

The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed an amendment on a Bill seeking to include Attorney General on the Governing Council of Abubakar Sola Saraki University, on the ground that the University's Governing Council has been empowered by the principal law, vesting the power to do so, in the Statute of the Institution.

The House took the decision, while considering the report of the House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development on the amendment bill.

The sitting presided over by the Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad however resolved that though the amendment was desirable, the power of the ivory tower's Governing Council to make statute for itself, should be with the prior approval of the Governor who is the visitor to the University.
