Blackout in Kulende: Kwara Speaker says It will soon be over

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad says the age- long epileptic power supply in Kulende in Ilorin Metropolis, will soon be a thing of the past.

The Speaker gave the assurance in Ilorin while receiving a petition from the people of Zango Community over protracted poor power supply in the area.

Dr Ahmad disclosed that power sub stations would be constructed in 4 locations in the Metropolis commencing with Kulende, within the next few months by the federal government, under the constituency projects of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to permanently resolve the poor power supply in the area.

The Speaker, who attributed the problem in the area to lack of investment by the Power Distribution Company, assured that government was genuinely committed towards resolving it, by providing N1bn for procurement of more transformer in the 2018 budget of the State.

He praised the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, for ensuring massive execution of federal government projects in the State, stressing that these will go along way to address infrastructural deficit in the state.

Earlier, the Spokespersons of Zango Community had narrated their ordeal of being in perpetual darkness, due to long feeder route and old transformers in the area and called for the intervention of the legislature in addressing the problem permanently.
