Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has disclosed that the State Assembly would soon pass a bill on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The bill, according to Ahmad is to give the affected people sense of belonging and make them more productive so as to enable them contribute effectively to the state growth.
He made the disclosure when he received the Advocacy Technical Team of USAID/JONAPWD Inclusive Education Project who were on a courtesy visit to his office on Thursday.
?The Speaker stressed further that people with such state of being should not in anyway be judged wrongly, adding that the bill when presented would be fasttracked by the House for quick passage and governor's accent.
Earlier in his address, the Team Leader, Alhaji Suleiman Dagbo ?had sought the House support for government to provide access to quality education especially learners with special needs.
Dagbo appealed to the state government to create opportunity for learners with special needs and their peers so as to enable them interact and understand each other in inclusive education environment.
He further appealed for appointment of their members into political and administrative positions such as Special Advisers on Disable Matters among several other positions.
