KWHA charges Gov Ahmed on IF-K establishment laws

The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to comply with the requirements of the relevant laws on the establishment of Kwara State Infrastructure Fund(IF-K)?.

The House made the call in its resolutions while considering the request of the governor on notification to establish the State Infrastructure Fund (IF-K) for the execution of capital projects under the Public Private Partnership structure.

The Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad while reading the resolutions said adherence to the relevant laws was necessary to ensure that the operation of IF-K is in compliance with the law establishing it.

It also urged the Governor to ensure that qualifications of Scheme Director- General and Chairman of the Board were also in compliance with the laws establishing the IF-K.

The House also enjoined the Governor not to appoint any of his personal aides as Chairman or Director-General of the new scheme.

? The legislature equally urged Governor Ahmed to ensure geographical spread of the Board members to ensure equity and fairness in its operations.

The Legislature however approved the letter of the Governor dated 13th of October 2016, withdrawing the letter of notification to establish the State Infrastructure Fund(IF-K) before the legislature to enable government implement the resolutions of the House on the establishment of IF-K.

Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has commended the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki for ensuring the reconstruction of Idi-Igba-Alfa Yahaya road as approved in this year's State Government budget .

This follow a Motion Without Notice by a member representing Ilorin North West Constituency, Hon. Abdulrafiu Abdulrahman on the commencement of work on the road project.

The legislature, while calling on the state government to expend the earlier allocated fund in this year's state budget on other roads within his constituency.

The House also directed it's Committee on Energy, Works and Transport to invite the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro Yahyah to brief the House on the current status of Kaiama-Kisi road, to address the hardship facing road users.

It also called on the state Government to fast track the release of N600 million approved by the Federal Government on the road and deploy same on the project to ensure its early completion.?
