The Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew
Okedare has recently bagged an Award of Excellence for his outstanding
performances since the inauguration of the 8th Assembly.
The
honour which was conferred on him by the Pastors Council of Cherubim and
Seraphim Movement Church Worl?dwide, is also to appreciate his overall
contributions to his Constituency, Lanwa/Ejidongari.
Presenting the award shortly after the movement's World Conference,
Pastor Oluwasegun Shogunro of C/S Movement, Jebba described the Deputy
Speaker as one of the few lawmakers in the state that has maintained
close contact with his Constituency.
According to him, "the
Legislator over the last one and half years has not only maintained
closeness with his people but has continued to touch his constituents'
lives positively in different ways"
Shogunro further described
him as an individual who at no point in time allow his present status to
take over him, admonishing other politicians to emulate his
philanthropic gesture as well.
He added that the Deputy Speaker
has remained a shinning example to other Christians in politics,
enjoining them to imitate this.
The Cleric however prayed God
to continue to guide the Deputy Speaker in all his endeavours and
provide him with wisdom required to succeed in life.
Responding, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mathew Okedare expressed his
delight for the honour and pledged to further strive in his legislative
duties for the betterment of Kwarans.
